Product Review : Vaseline Total Moisture

Remember this post about Vaseline? (I'm still using the Lip Therapy!) They've asked me to review their new moisturizers and since I have a daily ultra-lathering routine, I was happy to try them out.

During my first pregnancy, I used every thick, anti-stretch mark moisturizer on the market plus a concentrated Vitamin E oil every night. My doctor said this really wouldn't help, but I am convinced that all my efforts resulted in zero stretch marks. Now that I'm on numero dos, I'm returning to my old routine and lathering up every night. I don't use the anti-stretch mark creams anymore (because I haven't re-stocked) but still use layers of moisturizers.

I've used all three Vaseline® Total Moisture®, Aloe Fresh, and Cocoa Radiant for a couple weeks now, but I only needed one day to know it was some good stuff. Full disclosure: I don't spend a lot on body stuff. I buy drugstore soaps, lotions and hair products, so I'm glad I could try something that I'd actually buy again. (Ok, sometimes, I buy the good stuff, but now that you can buy Frederic Fekkai at Target, it's no longer qualified as 'good stuff' in my book.)

Vaseline's new lotion is  "non-greasy, fast absorbing and offers Stratys-3TM multi-layer moisture complex, infusing moisture at the top, core, and deep down layers of skin". Translation: really soft and makes your skin feel like a baby's. It's thick without feeling heavy with a soft scent that doesn't irritate my heightened, pregnant, werewolf-like senses.

Use the moisturizer after a shower and exfoliation and your skin will seriously feel soft for days. Not that I've gone days without a shower...don't judge...you know you've all done it.

Disclosure: I was provided with Vaseline® Total Moisture® lotions and information about the products by RocketXL. All opinions are 100% my own.

Converse One Star for Target - WINNER!

Last month, Target asked a few bloggers to customize their own pair of Converse One Star shoes. I was delighted to be part of the group and enjoyed designing mine (see here). Now I have a unique pair of sneaks that I'll wear with all my bordeaux pieces this fall!

So if you entered this giveaway and are lucky commenter #6 Hallie - you are the winner of a $40* Target Gift Card and style supply kit, courtesy of Target and Converse One Star!

Congratulations Hallie!
Please email me your mailing address so you can receive your prize.

*My apologies, the gift card is $40, not $50 as the original post mentioned. I was misinformed about the amount on the card. $40 will buy you a pair of Converse One Star and you will be mailed the style kit to make it your own! Enjoy!

Neiman Marcus Christmas Book 2011

Let me first say that I am really against retailers promoting Christmas gift giving before Thanksgiving. Buuuut - the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book was just released and what kind of blogger would I be not to share the fantasy gifts with my lovely readers?

You can view all the gorgeous gifts in the NM Christmas book here and share what's on your list to Santa.

And if you haven't already entered to win this giveaway, what are you waiting for??? $50 may not get you more than a mascara at Neimans, but you can fill an entire bag of make-up with a $50 gift card to Target! One more day to win...

Dogs in design

It's been a very long couple of weeks and I'm still not completely back in the social media swing. (Or any swing for that matter.) Tonight, I'm watching a PBS Nature show about dogs. I have a little obsession with those four-legged fur babies, just above my obsession with birds. (Coincidentally, last night's Nature episode was about crows.)

Aaaanyway...so I found a few dogs in home decor. And while I admire the devotion to their furry family members, I think I'll stick with my actual pups as the only 'dog decor' in our home.
(Click on the dots to see the pictures. Ignore the captions, they are not mine, just came with the slideshow.)

Lame post aside, have you entered this giveaway yet? Only three more days to win a $50 Target gift card to buy your own pair of Converse One Star shoes! You'll also win a style supply kit to customize them - or not.

Converse One Star for Target + GIVEAWAY

Who doesn't love a good ol' pair of Converse? I've worn them since I was about 7 years old. So when Converse One Star, sold exclusively at Target, asked if I'd like to customize my own pair, I didn't have to think twice! Yes please!

The sneakers are a solid white - blank canvas for customizing. The problem with me and blank canvases? Too many ideas. I finally settled on a design that would go back with the colors in my weekend wardrobe and still be relevant to one of this season's trends. The final product was an ombre, bordeaux-red sneaker that will add a pop of color to any basic jeans and tee outfit (aka: my weekend uniform). The gold star added a little metallic accent to the shoe and gives a nod to the "bold gold" trend this season. With a little fabric medium + acrylic paint, I have a new fave pair of sneaks!

I'm going to put elastic inside the tongue of the shoe so I can wear them lace-less.

Would you like to customize your own pair?
Well it just might be your lucky day!

Bonkers for Babybonkie & GIVEAWAY

I believe a swaddle is the must-have baby item on every registry.  We kept the Bitty swaddled the first three months of his life - and he was perfectly happy.  Since he was born in the winter months, we used his velour-ish baby blanket and wrapped him in it like a baby egg roll.  Although we had organic cotton and bamboo swaddles, we didn't have one thick enough to keep him warm and cozy.

Enter Babybonkie.  When they sent me my Bonkie, I was pretty excited...when I pulled it out of the packaging, I was obsessed.  The fabric is as soft as...wait for it...a baby's bottom *wink*.  I considered sewing a couple of them together and making a "mommy bonkie" for myself.

You can find Babybonkie at select boutiques across the US, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys. They retail at $64 for the cotton swaddle and $68 for the eco-bonkie. But in final celebration of Mommy Chic's blogiversary month - we are giving one away to a lucky reader! Even if you don't have a baby, it is the perfect luxury baby gift - or pick a neutral color to keep for future babies.  Here are a few of the super cute patterns they offer:

Blogiversary Giveaway (take 2): t-shirt scarf

Blogger is having technical difficulties right now, so I'm re-posting this giveaway since it seems to show up for some readers and others not.  WTF Blogger???

After being inspired by all the mustard pieces on the fall runways, I decided to DIY a t-shirt scarf to give to one of you lucky readers.  It's not exactly a t-shirt scarf, since it was never originally a tee, but it's made of the same soft jersey fabric that feels so good on your skin.

So today's giveaway is this circle scarf by {mommy chic}.  It's an easy, no-brainer - just throw it around your neck once or twice and you're done.  No need to figure out how to wear it.  I wear mine doubled around my neck, but here are a few different ways to make it a little more fun: (excuse the lack of accessories, I was in pajamas before I threw on the closest white tank and jeans)

Yes, it can also be worn as a one-shoulder top, a bolero sweater, or a wrap dress. So it's really like winning 6 giveaways in one!  I'm sure there are other ways to play with it, but this is what I came up with in 10 minutes.

If this color isn't your favorite, I'll give you the option of a peacock teal or deep purple, but only because I like you.

How to win (mandatory entries):
1. Follow my blog
2. Leave a comment with how much you love it (ok, just something friendly will do) and which color you want
3. Leave your name and email to contact if you win

For extra entries:
Follow me on Twitter
Retweet the giveaway
Post it on your Facebook page
Do this as often as you want, until it's borderline obsessive
(Leave separate comments here for each)
Send me gifts
Send me food or cocktails

Giveaway ends Tuesday, Aug 9. So feel free to tweet an entry every day until then! Winner will be chosen at random (or whoever sends me food or gifts) and announced next week!
Thanks for reading and celebrating my blogiversary!

*Sorry Canadian and European friends, this is only open to US addresses.  Mostly because I don't know the laws about cross-border giveaways and shipping and don't want my scarf to be confiscated as international contraband.
